The race to the scudetto is on in Italy at the halfway point of the Serie A season.

Inter Milan, which threatened to run away with the title in its first season under Coach José Mourinho, allowed midtable Atalanta of Bergamo three goals in the first 33 minutes Sunday and lost only its second league match of the season, 3-1. Juventus have suffered their fair share of serious injuries this season, but many of those players who have been on the sidelines are regaining their fitness.

Some of the latest to return are goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and midfielder Cristiano Zanetti, and Bianconeri fans will be happy to know they will soon be joined by David Trezeguet and Tiago.

Tiago has been given the all-clear by Juventus doctors and is now just concentrating on regaining his match-fitness before he can be at the full disposal of coach Claudio Ranieri. Read the rest of this entry →

On-loan AC Milan midfielder David Beckham has made his competitive Serie A debut for the club against Roma.

Beckham played 89 minutes in the Olympic Stadium before he was replaced by Mathieu Flamini as Milan drew 2-2.
The England international had been expected to start on the bench, but Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti played him on the right of a three-man midfield.

Beckham had not played a competitive game since the end of the MLS season with Los Angeles Galaxy in October.
